Introductory paragraphs: Immigration in Chile & Chilean education
Immigration in Chile:
Immigration in Chile has been one of the
most relevant issues during the pandemic. The health crisis has made it evident
that a large number of immigrants in Chile live and work in precarious
conditions, generally informal work, without a contract and health insurance. Regarding
their quality of life, they live crowded, with very high rental prices, and
without social security. So, it is an urgency for the Chilean State improve its
migration policies and ensure the well-being of migrants of all nationalities.
Chilean education:
Some people say that education is the most powerful weapon. Education understood as an important part of the socialization of individuals, and as a vital component of social and cultural capital. Now in the case of Chile we must ask ourselves if this powerful weapon will be a weapon for personal growth and the development of our interests, or a business through which some are excluded for the benefit of others.
It seems that despite the contributions from the sociology of education we continue to be inserted in a culture where education produces and reproduces the inequalities of our society.
